MISSION: Singapore Noodles
Last weekend we went to dinner with our uncle. He told us he had a hankering for Singapore noodles, something we both knew nothing about. However being the food lovers we that we are (and being college students) the idea of unfamiliar food did not stop us from venturing out to satisfy our uncle's craving.
LOCATION: Le Cheval's in Downtown Oakland
"I thought this place served French food."
"Vietnam was colonized by France."
"Oh."
OUTCOME: Deeeee-licious

Shrimp rolls
steamed prawns, rice vermicelli, mint leaves,
lettuce wrapped in rice paper and served with peanut sauce
Imperial Rolls
chicken meat, bean thread noodles,mushrooms, and
carrots wrapped in flour paper,
deep-fried and served with nuoc mam dipping
French Rice
rice cooked with tomato and butter
Fried Lemon Grass Sole
pan-fried filet of sole in lemongrass
herb and light curry powder
Grilled Lemon Grass Porkchops
Soy Sauce Rice
Singapore Noodles
Stir-fried vermicelli with broccoli, bell pepper,
curry, beef, chicken, and tofu
The service was so fast that our table became
overcrowded with entrees and appetizers!!
Banana Flambe'
At the end of the meal we talked about our food... and not just how tasty everything was. Each of the dishes we ordered had a distinct taste from each other. This enabled us to try a variety of flavors and have a well rounded experience of what our uncle called an "Asian Fusion" restaurant.
