Happy Birthday Dani!

Today our little sister turned the big 1-8 (HAPPY BIRTHDAY!) so to celebrate we went to The City for some tasty Italian food. The restaurant Dani had her heart set on was Buca di Beppo, a chain restaurant designed to give you the feel of eating home cooked food in an Italian family's home (achieved through the decor and monster-sized portions). It's very easy to be overwhelmed here but luckily we've been enough to plan accordingly when ordering these family-style plates.

For appetizers we started off with some classics: calamari, cheese bread, and a salad.

Fried Calamari with tangy marinara sauce

Cheesy Bread Florentine (parmesan, mozzarella, and provolone cheeses with spinach, tomato, and garlic on the house bread)

Apple Gorgonzola Salad (granny smith apples, spiced walnuts, dried cranberries, and gorgonzola cheese with their signature Italian vinaigrette)

For our entrees we decide on 3 plates

Dani and Mom's pick: Baked Rigatoni

Dad's pick: Linguine Frutti Di Mare

Our pick: Prosciutto Stuffed Chicken with Pesto Sauce

Absolutely everything was fantastically delicious (especially the chicken!!!!).

Afterwards we were delightfully surprised by our waitress and her co-workers wishing Dani a happy birthday with Buca di Beppo's birthday song and bringing her a warm brownie with vanilla bean ice cream topped with whipped cream.

All in all, we'd say it was a happy birthday indeed.
