Instagram recommended, Monique approved.

Hello everyone! Like I mentioned before I am visiting Ann Arbor, MI for a few days with my dad to check out the University of Michigan. Well, with every adventure I go on I always take a lot photos and post them to Instagram so others can follow my travels. I posted a picture the other day and one of my "followers" asked the nature of my visit to Ann Arbor. I let her know why I was visiting and she responded with a food recommendation, Zingerman's Deli. Now I had never heard of this place before but after doing some research on Yelp I knew I had to go.

Welcome to Zingerman's!!!

Opened in March of 1982 by Paul Saginaw and Ari Weinzweig in an historic building near the Ann Arbor Farmers’ Market, the Deli got its start with a small selection of great-tasting specialty foods, a host of traditional Jewish dishes and a relatively short sandwich menu.
Today, Zingerman’s Delicatessen is an Ann Arbor institution, the source of great food and great experiences for thousands of visitors every year.

“Ahhhhh Zingerman’s…. my temple of deliciousness…” – Mario Batali

The Deli serves up thousands of made-to-order sandwiches with ingredients like premium Black Angus corned beef and pastrami, free-range chicken and turkey, housemade chopped liver and chicken salad. The Deli also stocks an exceptional array of farmhouse cheeses, estate-bottled olive oils, varietal vinegars, smoked fish, salami, coffee, tea and much, much more.

Zingerman's encourages their customers to taste their product. So I helped myself to a few of their samples. I tried the Lemon Poppyseed Coffeecake, homemade graham crackers, ginger grapefruit marmalade, and a few others. Each sample was absolutely delicious.

My Dad's choice: The Zingerman's Reuben: Zingerman's corned beef, Switzerland Swiss cheese, sauerkraut & Russian dressing on grilled, hand-sliced Jewish rye bread

My choice: The Gemini Rocks the House: Zingerman's own handmade mozzarella, tomatoes, and Italian pesto on grilled farm bread.

We each paired our sandwiches with 2 pickles, a bottled drink, and a classic bag of chips. I would definitely want to visit Zingerman's Deli again and not just their deli. Zingerman's has created a food community which includes a bakery, creamery, roadhouse, coffe shop, and even does mail to order services. Check them out at http://www.zingermans.com/
