La Note in downtown Berkeley
"is an authentic Provençal restaurant in the heart of downtown Berkeley. Traditional breakfast and lunch bistro fare are combined with rustic Provençal dinners in a warm and charming atmosphere," according to its website. And after our visit last Friday, courtesy of a "breakfast with mom" date, we agree and are under the spell of the charming restaurant.
The restaurant plenty of cute touches making for a quaint ambiance
One of our cute mini water pitchers
We started it off with...
Monique's "CHOCOLAT CHAUD"
hot chocolate
Michelle's LE PAGNOL
Orange and cranberry juice with Perrier water
and
"SOUR CREAM COFFEE CAKE MAISON"
Made with walnuts, brown sugar and cocoa swirls
Michelle looking defensive over her coffee cake
All of which were tasty, but then it was time for the main event...
Mom's Choice:
OEUF A LA COQUE
Two three minutes boiled eggs served in their shell, with thinly sliced toast (for dipping), served with homefries
(a meal that came highly recommended by our co-worker)
Monique’s Choice:
OMELETTE DE POMMES DE TERRE
Potato and caramelized onion omelette, served open face, with Provencales tomatoes
Michelle's Choice:
TOASTED CINNAMON BRIOCHE
with lavender honey
We had been told by a friend that La Note was literally the best eating experience of his life... can't say that we disagree with that statement. We were all smiles after the meal =)
